Senator Ned Nwoko, the billionaire politician and husband to Nollywood star Regina Daniels, has issued a scathing rebuke to online trolls and media outlets amplifying a viral video that falsely links him to a young woman. In a strongly worded statement on Instagram, Nwoko dismissed the allegations as “mischievous and malicious” fabrications, vowing to invoke Nigeria’s Cybercrime Act against those perpetuating the misinformation.

The controversy erupted when a clip surfaced online showing Nwoko in close proximity to an unidentified young woman during what he described as a professional courtesy visit. Social media quickly ignited with speculation of an extramarital affair, drawing unwanted attention to the couple’s already strained personal life.

In his post, Nwoko provided context to quell the rumours. He revealed that the woman was part of a delegation from the Peace Ambassadors initiative, headed by Ambassador Dr. Adejo Sule, who had met with him on official business. “Photos were taken during the visit, as is usually the case whenever I receive guests,” he explained, decrying how innocuous moments are now “easily twisted for clout and misinformation.”

“It is unfortunate that social media has become a space where moments are easily twisted for clout and misinformation,” Nwoko lamented. He emphasized, “Let me state clearly and unequivocally that the news being propagated around her visit is entirely false. I do not have any form of personal or private connection with her.”

Escalating his response, the Delta North Senator issued a stern warning: “Any further propagation of this false narrative will attract appropriate legal action.” He specifically cited the Cybercrime (Prohibition, Prevention, etc.) Act, 2015, underscoring that penalties for spreading falsehoods could include fines or imprisonment. Nwoko urged media platforms and individuals to cease dissemination immediately, framing the episode as an assault on his reputation and family.

Adding fuel to the fire, Regina Daniels made her first public appearance since an explosive family feud boiled over last week. The 24-year-old actress, who married the 64-year-old lawmaker in 2019, had accused Nwoko of physical violence, and her siblings escalated the claims, alleging that Nwoko dispatched thugs to assault her.

Nwoko countered swiftly, attributing Daniels’ outbursts to substance abuse. In a rebuttal, he accused her of “drug and alcohol abuse,” claiming it leads to violent episodes where she “destroys things.” The back-and-forth exchange sent shockwaves through Nigeria’s entertainment and political circles, prompting Daniels to go silent on social media for days.

That changed dramatically on Friday when Daniels resurfaced on Instagram Stories, projecting an image of unshakeable glamour. In a short video clip, the actress is seen aboard a private jet, clinking glasses with friends in a toast to resilience, her voice light and upbeat as laughter echoed in the background.

Notably absent was the sparkling new wedding ring Nwoko had gifted her just days before the allegations surfaced a subtle signal amid the chaos. Daniels, dressed in casual chic, appeared relaxed and unbothered, sipping her drink against the luxurious backdrop of leather seats and panoramic windows.

The Nwoko-Daniels union has long been a tabloid staple, blending politics, wealth, and showbiz. With six children between them (Daniels has two sons with Nwoko, while he has several from previous marriages), the couple has often defended their 40-year age gap against public scrutiny. Yet recent events have peeled back layers of private discord, raising questions about the sustainability of their high-profile romance.

Neither party has addressed reconciliation publicly, but sources close to the family suggest mediation efforts are underway. As Nwoko doubles down on his denial of the affair rumours, all eyes remain on Daniels’ next move and whether the legal threats will silence the online chorus.
