As activities continue for the 2026 Annual Law Week of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Calabar Branch, prominent legal practitioner and former national officer of the association, Okey Leo Ohagba, has extended warm felicitations to the branch leadership and members.

In a statement marking the event, Ohagba congratulated the Chairman of the branch, Enome Amatey, the Law Week Planning Committee, and the entire membership of the Calabar Branch, popularly known as the “Doyen Bar,” on the successful hosting of the Law Week holding from April 15 to 19, 2026.

He described the theme of this year’s programme, “Rule of Law: Safeguarding Democracy, Ensuring Accountability,” as timely and reflective of the core responsibilities of the legal profession in strengthening democratic governance and upholding constitutional order.

According to him, the theme reinforces the duty of lawyers to ensure that individuals and institutions remain accountable under the law, particularly in a rapidly evolving political and legal landscape.

Ohagba commended the leadership of the Calabar Branch for what he termed its innovative approach and sustained commitment to professional development and intellectual engagement within the Bar.

“I write to extend my warmest felicitations to the Enome Amatey-led Executive, the Law Week Planning Committee, and the entire leadership and members of the Nigerian Bar Association, Calabar Branch, on this momentous occasion,” he stated.

He expressed optimism that the deliberations during the Law Week would yield meaningful outcomes for the legal profession and the country at large.

Ohagba also used the opportunity to encourage members of the Bar to embrace innovation and forward-thinking ideas, emphasising the need for continuous evolution within the legal profession.

The NBA Calabar Law Week is one of the flagship events of the branch, providing a platform for discourse on key legal and national issues, while promoting professional growth and networking among practitioners.
