The Lead British International School (LBIS) in Abuja has appointed a dedicated team to investigate a case of bullying among its students after multiple videos of the incident went viral on social media on Monday.

In the disturbing footage, a group of female students can be seen repeatedly assaulting another female student, who sits helplessly while being interrogated about a boy’s name. Another video shows the same girl standing quietly as she is hit multiple times by a different student demanding to know who “broke her heart.”

Despite initial claims on social media, Daniel Bwala, a former spokesperson to PDP presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar, confirmed that the assaulted girl is not his daughter and that he has no children attending LBIS.

In a statement, Head of School Abraham Ogunkanmbi said that LBIS is deeply concerned about the incident and is taking the matter very seriously. The school has initiated an investigation, with the appointed team gathering information, reviewing video footage, and interviewing witnesses to understand the full scope of the incident and identify its causes.

LBIS has also reached out to the families of both the perpetrators and the victims to offer counseling and disciplinary measures as appropriate. The school is committed to providing a safe and supportive learning environment for all students and will be implementing educational programs and workshops to raise awareness about bullying and its consequences.

The school has appealed to social media users to refrain from further sharing the video clips to protect the minors involved and their families. LBIS is dedicated to fostering a culture of kindness, respect, and empathy, where every student feels safe, valued, and respected.
