It is yet another traumatic day for Legal Practitioners across the country as another Legal Practitioner got brutally dehumanized right at the foot of the temple of mother Justice, for no other reason than that he rendered his legal professional service to his client.

Reports have it that shortly after securing bail for his client at the Federal High Court, Uyo, on Monday, 19th July 2021, Mr. Ewa Okpo, was immediately hijacked and whisked away by men of the EFCC at the Court premises, Udo Udoma Avenue.

This unwarranted and unprovoked assault marks the second onslaught against unsuspecting members of the legal profession, (in less than two months) by men of the EFCC.

This outlandish act of unprofessionalism by the men of the EFCC against our colleagues stands condemned in the strongest terms by Me, and even though I am certain that the National body of the NBA, as well as the vibrant executives of the Uyo branch, are fully hands-on, on this issue permit me to lend my voice in condemnation of this sustained perennial embarrassment and persecution of members of the Legal profession by law enforcement agents across the land, for carrying out their professional duties.

I call on the leadership of the EFCC to promptly investigate this inhuman conduct of some of the unscrupulous elements amongst its workforce, and bring the culprits to justice.
