It is with deep shock and unbelief that I received the sad news of the death of my Brother, Granville Abibo, SAN, who passed on to eternal glory after a brief illness yesterday in Port Harcourt.
Granville made a lasting impression on me since I got to know him, as he was a consistent person , forthright, loyal and courageous. He was a very successful advocate who loved his profession and made a great success of it.
He was a very prominent member of All-inclusive Bar and was very passionate in our drive to rebuild our profession and association, the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA). He was selfless, patriotic and kind to a fault.
A past Chairman of NBA Portharcourt branch, he contributed immensely to the growth and stability of the branch and remained a source of strength to younger members of the profession across the country, who found in him a willing mentor.
He was a dedicated member of the Eastern Bar Forum (EBF), who worked hard for the unity and development of the forum.
While praying for the repose of the soul of my brother, Granville, who will be deeply missed by his family, friends and legal profession in Nigeria; I ask the Almighty grant his family, the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss.
May his soul and that of other faithful departed rest in peace.
