The Honourable Chief Judge of Lagos State, Justice Kazeem Olanrewaju Alogba, has announced the creation of three additional Probate Registries in the High Court of Lagos State.

The newly established registries are located in the Badagry, Epe, and Ikorodu Judicial Divisions.

In accordance with Section 51(1) of the High Court Law of Lagos State 2015, the Chief Judge has authorized the commencement of operations for the processing of Letters of Administration, Grant of Probate, lodgment of Wills, and other related probate matters in these new registries, effective from the date of the notice.

The notice clarifies that pending applications for Letters of Administration, Grant of Probate, lodgment of Wills, and other probate matters in the Ikeja and Lagos Divisions will continue to be handled in their respective divisions unless otherwise directed in writing by the Honourable Chief Judge.

The establishment of these additional Probate Registries is expected to improve access to justice and streamline the process of handling probate matters for residents in the Badagry, Epe, and Ikorodu areas.

This development will likely reduce the burden on the existing registries in Ikeja and Lagos Divisions, ensuring a more efficient and accessible judicial system for the citizens of Lagos State.

The notice was signed by the Acting Chief Registrar, Mr. T.A. Elias, and dated June 1, 2024.
