Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN) and the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), has reiterated their stance that the National industrial action must continue.

The resolution was reached today, during the visit by the JUSUN delegation led by Comrade Emmanuel Abioye, the Deputy Vice President at the NBA National Secretariat who were received by the Vice President of the NBA, John Aikpokpo-Martins, on behalf of the  President, Olumide Akpata.

Both bodies reiterated and resolved to continue and intensify their efforts to ensure that the objectives of the strike action were met, and that the sacrifices of all stakeholders, particularly lawyers will not be in vain.

TheNigerialawyer gathered that the purpose of the visit was to brief the NBA, and to extend their appreciation for the unflinching support as well as to seek for her further understanding and continued cooperation for the strike action; and to further strategize on the way forward in the fight for judiciary autonomy having regards to the eerie silence from the Federal Government and the Governors since the botched all stakeholders meeting on the 20th day of April, 2021 at the conference room of the Minister of Labour, Chief Chris Ngige.

The understandings reached at the interactive meeting will become evident in the coming days.

Recall that it’s been over 4 weeks that JUSUN embarked on the nationwide strike. The reason for the strike to press home their demand for financial autonomy for the judiciary.
