Iran’s newly appointed Supreme Leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, has warned that all United States military bases in the region must be shut down immediately or face attacks, as tensions escalate in the Middle East.

In his first televised address since assuming leadership, Khamenei declared that Iran would continue targeting US military assets across the region, insisting that American bases represent a direct threat to Iran’s sovereignty.

Khamenei linked the nation’s suffering to his own personal losses, noting that his father, the former supreme leader, and members of his family were killed in recent strikes. “I lost my father, I lost my wife. My sister lost her child as well as her husband,” he said, adding that faith and patience were essential to enduring such trials.

The statement also praised citizens “from all walks of life who stood against the enemy” and emphasized resilience in the face of adversity.

His statement reads, “This is something that I share with the people who have lost their ones because I lost my father, I lost my wife.

“My sister lost her child as well as the husband who has been martyred.

“But what it makes it easier for us to endure all these plights is to trust the grace of God and to know that patience is going to resolve it.

“I assure everyone that we will not ignoring the fact that we are going to revenge our martyrs.

“It is not only about the the fact that they martyred our supreme leader.

“And it is not only about him, it is about every single countryman that has been killed during the recent war.”

He also announced that the strategic Strait of Hormuz would remain closed as part of measures aimed at exerting pressure on Iran’s adversaries.

Despite the strong warnings, Khamenei said Iran still believes in maintaining friendly relations with neighbouring countries and called for improved diplomatic ties within the region.

The Iranian leader further stated that armed groups allied with Tehran in Yemen and Iraq were prepared to support Iran if the conflict intensifies. He said the resistance forces in Yemen “will also do the job,” while armed groups in Iraq are equally willing to assist.

Khamenei praised Iran’s military forces, thanking them for defending the country at a time when, according to him, Iran is under intense pressure and attack.

“We will avenge the blood of our martyrs,” he said, promising retaliation against those responsible for attacks on Iran.

The Supreme Leader also announced relief measures for citizens affected by the ongoing conflict. According to him, individuals injured in recent attacks will receive free medical treatment, while those whose properties were damaged will be given financial compensation.

Meanwhile, the global energy market remains on edge as the conflict threatens oil supplies from the region. The United States Energy Secretary, Chris Wright, said crude oil prices reaching $200 per barrel is “unlikely,” although he did not completely rule out the possibility amid the escalating crisis.
