The Nigerian Bar Association Women Forum (NBAWF) is celebrating with all the women particularly Female lawyers on this special occasion of International Women’s Day.

In a statement by the Advocacy Team of the NBAWF, the Forum is calling on all-female lawyers to get involved in promoting gender equality.

The statement read: “In line with the special efforts by the International community, gender activists and the acknowledgment of the unique roles of women in global development, the NBA Women Forum Celebrates all women and more especially, the female lawyers in Nigeria.

“Particularly, we celebrate the achievements and special contributions of Women to the development of the Law in Nigeria.

“We profoundly appreciate the special interest and determination of Paul Usoro SAN, President of the Nigerian Bar Association in promoting the cause of women and for resuscitating the Women Forum thereby setting female lawyers on the right pedestal for success.

“This year, the theme for the celebration is, “I am Generation Equality: Realizing Women’s Rights.” This theme is quite apt and very fundamental to gender advocacy.

“We reinstate the fact that ‘a gender-equal world can be healthier, wealthier and more harmonious’.

“We, therefore, encourage all female lawyers in Nigeria to commit to ensuring gender equality and work assiduously to promote a gender-equal society.

“We emphasize that as women, ‘we can actively choose to challenge stereotypes, fight bias, broaden perceptions, improve situations and celebrate women’s achievements.’

“The NBA Women Forum hopes to work hard to achieve gender equality throughout the year solely to empower female lawyers in Nigeria. This, we believe,  will impact the lives of female lawyers positively and promote professional growth and development.

“This is NBA Women Forum. Empowering the Lives of Female Lawyers.”

Happy Women’s Day!
