*Says Search Has Begun For Cowards Who Released Dangerous Criminals

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has described as cowardly Monday’s attacks on the Imo Police headquarters and the Owerri Correctional Centre.

Osinbajo, who frowned at the forceful release of prisoners at the correctional centre by gunmen, noted such action posed threat to the welfare of citizens.

He said: “When you attack institutions of law and order, it’s evident that it’s an attack on the welfare and the well-being of the people especially when you free prisoners who may be dangerous to the community, dangerous to the people.

“This is particularly atrocious and condemnable. Government has already taken steps to enhance security here and in the Correctional Centre and the state generally. That’s a continuous process”.

The Vice President assured residents of Imo of adequate security, noting the Federal Government was already consulting with heads of security agencies to ensure lasting peace.
