The Nasarawa State Police Command arrested gospel singer Timilehin Ajayi on suspicion of killing and dismembering his 24-year-old girlfriend, Salome Enejo, for alleged ritual purposes. Enejo was a member of the National Youth Service Corps serving in Abuja.

The arrest occurred in Orozo, a community on the border between the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, and Nasarawa State. Churchgoers apprehended Ajayi after he was seen carrying a polybag containing Enejo’s severed head near a river.

According to Caleb Umaru, the Bible Study Teacher and General Secretary of the church, a member noticed Ajayi acting suspiciously and alerted others when he threw a bag into the river. The bag was retrieved and found to contain the victim’s head.

Umaru stated that the incident occurred around 11 a.m., just before the end of the church service. Ajayi attempted to flee but was chased down and caught in a nearby farm area. A motorcyclist who had transported Ajayi with the sack enlisted help to confront him.

Police spokesperson Ramhan Nansel said Ajayi was rescued from being mobbed by the crowd. Further investigation at his residence uncovered two sacks containing the rest of Enejo’s dismembered body. Nansel confirmed the victim’s identity and that her parents had been notified.

Ajayi is currently receiving medical treatment for injuries sustained during his apprehension. The police have commenced a thorough investigation into the case.

This incident follows a similar case in Lagos State in October 2023, when Benjamin Nnanyereugo, known as KillaBoi, was declared wanted for the murder of his 21-year-old girlfriend, Augusta Osedion, at his home in the Ajah area.
