The police in Cross River State have confirmed the abduction of the Director of Servicom at the University of Calabar, Prof Patrick Egaga.

Egaga was abducted by gunmen on Sunday night from his residence at the university staff quarters.
The Public Relations Officer of the State Police Command, SP Irene Ugbo, who confirmed the incident on Monday said, “We are working to secure his release.”
The PRO of the varsity, Mr Effiong Eyo, also confirmed the incident, adding rescue efforts are ongoing.
It was gathered that the gunmen took away Egaga, who is a professor at the Department of Special Education in the university through the waterways in which they entered the staff quarters.
