Enugu State Governor, Peter Mbah, received high praise from lawyers and participants at the ongoing Annual General Conference (AGC) of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) in Enugu, for his transformative leadership over the past two years.

The commendations came during Mbah’s presentation on “Leadership and Transformation,” where he outlined practical strategies he applied to overcome barriers and unlock opportunities in the state.

Chief Mike Ozekhome, SAN, said the visible development across Enugu made it impossible to ignore the governor’s achievements. “To deny your transformative leadership will be sinful, and I do not want to be a sinner,” he remarked, highlighting the remarkable progress despite a highly politicised environment.

Senator Dino Melaye also praised Mbah for being a pacesetter in good governance within just two years, commending his competence-based recruitment and the intellectual capability of his political appointees. “It gives hope that Nigeria can be fine again,” he said.

In his presentation, Mbah emphasized that transformational leadership requires the audacity to envision beyond low expectations, anchored in vision, values, and disruptive strategies. He highlighted ambitious targets, including growing Enugu’s economy from $4.4 billion to $30 billion, reducing poverty to zero, and making the state a preferred destination for business, tourism, and living.

He credited the state’s dramatic reduction in violent crime over 80% to a tech-driven, intelligence-led security architecture anchored in the Command and Control Centre, which underpins investment, job creation, and societal growth.

Mbah further disclosed that his administration currently has over 2,000 ongoing or completed projects across sectors such as health, roads, transport, agriculture, and education. He stressed the importance of education, noting that 33% of the state’s budget is allocated to the sector to nurture human capital for the future.

“Next month we launch 260 Smart Green Schools—one for every ward in the state. These are integrated, tech-enabled institutions that prepare children not just to learn, but to create, innovate, and compete in the Fourth Industrial Revolution,” Mbah concluded.
