Legal luminary, Chief Wole Olanipekun SAN, has said he achieved all he achieved because he’s diligent in his job and he believes in himself.

According to a statement on Friday, Olanipekun spoke while admonishing Law students of the University of Abuja on Wednesday.

He asked the students to be focused, self-disciplined, and self-confident as they prepare to pursue their careers in various areas of the legal profession.

Olanipekun, a former President of the Nigeria Bar Association, was conferred an honorary fellowship award by the student body of the institution during the opening of the Legal Year for the 2023/2024 Session with the theme “21st Century Lawyers: Exploiting Law as the Binding Force in this Golden Age.”

“I achieved all I achieved because I’m diligent in my job, believe in myself, and endowed with the abundant grace of God,” he said.

He was represented by a team of lawyers from his Law chamber – Wole Olanipekun & Co. led by Benjamin Nwosu.

He said, “Success doesn’t just happen, it requires a conscious effort. As budding lawyers, you have to start the preparation for the future today. To be a successful lawyer, you must first of all be focused, hardworking, and diligent because nothing worthwhile comes easily.”

Earlier, the university’s Vice-chancellor, Prof. Abdul-Rasheed Na’Allah, who was represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration), Prof. Philip Afaha, commended the leadership of the faculty for all the efforts being made to project UNIABUJA to the world through academic excellence and educative programs.

He said, “On behalf of our Vice Chancellor, I congratulate LASAN and the Faculty at large on this annual event. It’s evident in the appearance and conduct of students here today that you stand for excellence. I wish you all a successful legal year and urge you to remain steadfast in both your studies and character.”

Olanipekun had last week disclosed that former President Olusegun Obasanjo almost punched him for advising that the 1999 Constitution be amended when Obasanjo was the sitting President.

He described the 1999 Constitution as a fake document, saying it is to blame for the challenges bedevilling the country.
