The Nigeria Immigration Service has announced a special passport intervention exercise for Nigerians residing in the United Kingdom as part of efforts to clear pending applications and improve access to passport services.

The exercise was directed by the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, and will be carried out by a dedicated Passport Intervention Team from the NIS headquarters in Abuja in collaboration with the Nigerian High Commission in the United Kingdom.

The Comptroller-General of Immigration, Kemi Nandap, has directed the team to commence the intervention on August 10, 2026.

According to the NIS, the intervention team will facilitate the processing and issuance of pending passport applications, attend to new applicants and assist passport holders whose documents have less than one year before expiration and who wish to apply for renewal.

The Service said the team will visit designated cities across the United Kingdom to conduct passport enrolment and processing, thereby allowing eligible Nigerians in different parts of the country to benefit from the exercise.

Applicants are required to present completed application forms and proof of payment during enrolment.

However, the NIS advised Nigerians in the UK not to proceed to any location until the official schedule is released, noting that details of the designated cities, dates, venues, enrolment times and other arrangements will be announced separately.

“Applicants are therefore advised not to proceed to any location until the relevant schedule has been officially communicated,” the Service said.

Nigerians in the UK were also urged to monitor the official communication channels of the Nigerian High Commission for updates on the exercise.

For enquiries or complaints, applicants may contact passport.london@immigration.gov.ng or use the WhatsApp-only line +234 916 087 8000.

The NIS added that all its digital passport application channels, including the Contactless Passport Application System, will remain fully operational during the intervention exercise.

It also stated that the home delivery service will remain available to applicants.

“The Nigeria Immigration Service remains committed to efficient, transparent and responsive passport service delivery to Nigerians at home and in the diaspora,” the Service added.
