The South-South Zonal Office of the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission has conducted an enforcement operation in some supermarkets in Woji area of Port Harcourt, Rivers State capital.

The agency disclosed this in a post on it’s X handle on Thursday, adding that bags of rice suspected to be rebagged or underweight were confiscated for further investigation.

The caption read, “FCCPC’s South-South Zonal Office conducted a routine enforcement operation in some supermarkets in the Woji area of Port Harcourt, Rivers State, targeting underweight and re-bagged rice.

“Products that were suspected to be substandard were evacuated for further investigation.”

Last week that the FCCPC initiated a campaign to enforce price display and quantity compliance at supermarkets throughout Abuja.

It was reported to be in response to concerns raised by consumers about the rising costs of goods, which go against the recent strengthening of the naira.

The agency also urged Nigerians to stay vigilant and report any unfair trade practices they encounter.
