Hon. Justice Karibi – White JSC was one of the most erudite and scholarly Justices of the Supreme Court of Nigeria. His judgments stand shoulder to shoulder with that of his colleagues in England.
His judgment speaks volume of his kind of person. The eloquence, the dexterity, the neutrality and the justice of the case in its naked form marked him out as a man with the fear of God. We are blessed to have had such a great and honest man in the highest court of our land.
He was humble by nature yet very firm, fearless and courageous. Under the military government he was not intimidated, he delivered judgement against them when they acted arbitrarily. He did not fear their guns.
He was a comely fellow with a pleasant personality. He served his father land meritoriously and died at the ripe age of 88 years.
We are going to miss this great legal icon. I pray the Almighty God to grant the family and legal community the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
