The Ogun State Police Command has arrested a man identified as Kehinde Makinde, popularly known as “Pastor Kenny,” over allegations that he obtained about ₦2.5 million from 18 fellowship members under the guise of organising a government-sponsored pilgrimage to Jerusalem.

Makinde was arrested in Ibadan, Oyo State, on August 3, 2026, following about four months of intelligence gathering and discreet investigation by detectives attached to the Obantoko Division of the command.

The spokesperson for the command, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, said preliminary investigations indicated that the suspect allegedly collected the money from fellowship members in Saje, Adatan, Abeokuta, after representing that he would facilitate a government-sponsored trip to Jerusalem.

Police further alleged that Makinde promised each of the affected members ₦2 million as part of the purported arrangement.

According to the command, the investigation also arose from allegations that the suspect had been manipulating unsuspecting persons under the guise of providing spiritual deliverance services across Ogun, Oyo and Osun states.

“Following four months of sustained intelligence gathering and discreet investigation, Detectives attached to the Obantoko Division, on 3rd August, 2026, at about 1645hrs, arrested Kehinde Makinde ‘M’, popularly known as ‘Pastor Kenny,’ in Ibadan, Oyo State,” Babaseyi said.

“The arrest followed investigations into allegations that the suspect fraudulently manipulated unsuspecting victims under the guise of spiritual deliverance across Ogun, Oyo and Osun states.

“Preliminary investigation further revealed that the suspect allegedly obtained approximately ₦2.5 million from eighteen fellowship members in Saje, Adatan, under the false pretence of organising a government-sponsored pilgrimage to Jerusalem and promising each member ₦2 million.”

The police said Makinde remains in custody while investigators continue efforts to identify other persons who may have been affected by the alleged scheme.

The command added that efforts were also ongoing to identify and apprehend suspected accomplices connected with the case.

The allegations against Makinde have not been proved in court, and he is presumed innocent unless and until found guilty by a competent court.
