Enugu State Police Brutality and Extra-Judicial Killings Panel, has debunked the report that the panel is on strike due to non-payment of allowance.

The Secretary of the panel, Onochiengwu Obuna Esq., who made the disclosure described the report as untrue and noted that the misleading information is nothing but the handwork of mischief-makers.

Speaking with TheNigerialawyer(TNL), on Friday, Onochiengwu, said: ” The attention of the Enugu State Police Brutality and Extra-Judicial Killings Panel has been drawn to the misleading information spread by mischief makers that the Panel is on strike and that the purported strike is due to non-payment of certain allowances by government.

“This is untrue and can only be the efforts of malicious persons targetted at scuttling the proceedings of the panel and to a grave extent bring the government of the state to disrepute.

For the avoidance of doubt, the panel went further to state the following:

1. That at no time were any members of the panel on strike for any reason whatsoever.

2. That the few days when the panel could not sit was when the chairman of the Panel took ill and was unavoidably absent.

3.  That the Chairman has regained his health and has since resumed duties with the Panel sitting uninterrupted.

The Panel, therefore, enjoined members of the public to disregard any information to the contrary and continue to attend sittings as scheduled.

“The Panel is ever more positioned to dispense Justice without fear or favour”, Onochiengwu, added.
