Despite the order barring any form of durbar activities in Kano State, the 16th Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, on Sunday held a durbar in the state.

The durbar took place shortly after he led the Eid prayers at the Kofar Mata Jumu’at Mosque where he also gave a sermon.

The prayer session was observed at the Kofar Mata Jumu’at mosque due to the downpour that flooded the premises of the Eid ground where the prayer was typically held.

In attendance to pray alongside the monarch were Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf and his cabinet members.

In his sermon after leading the prayer , Sanusi urged Muslims to embrace the culture of helping the needy and preaching peace.

He emphasised the importance of following Prophet Muhammad’s teachings which emphasised helping the needy, especially during Eid-al-Adha celebrations.

He also urged the public to pray for peaceful co-existence in the state and in the country.

It could be recalled that the state Police Commissioner Ussain Mohammed Gumel had announced the ban of all durbar activities in the state on account of the security challenges in the state.
