The Abuja Leadership Centre (ALC), a TETFUND Centre of Excellence in Public Governance and Leadership hosted by the University of Abuja, has announced the appointment of Prof. Mike A.A. Ozekhome, SAN, CON, OFR, Ph.D., LL.D., as a Visiting Professor.

In a letter dated July 7, 2025, Prof. Dahida D. Philip, Director of the ALC, formally conveyed the appointment, recognizing Prof. Ozekhome’s remarkable academic profile, leadership in activism, and pro-democracy efforts in Nigeria. The Centre highlighted his distinguished career as a former law lecturer at Obafemi Awolowo University and Benson Idahosa University, his numerous honorary degrees in law and leadership, and his deep expertise in constitutional law and governance.
The Abuja Leadership Centre, anchored under the World Bank’s Tertiary Education Fund (TETFUND), is mandated to re-engineer leadership and governance across Africa through academic programs, research, and capacity-building initiatives. The Centre anticipates that Prof. Ozekhome’s vast knowledge and experience will greatly inspire emerging leaders and scholars.
This appointment marks Prof. Ozekhome’s eighth visiting professorship globally, underscoring his status as a highly decorated legal scholar and activist.
In his acceptance letter dated July 24, 2025, Prof. Ozekhome expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the ALC Governing Council and Management. He acknowledged the Centre’s mission to transform public leadership and governance across Africa and pledged his full commitment to contribute through scholarship, research, and critical engagement despite his demanding schedule.
