The Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC), Nigeria’s primary regulatory body for company registrations, has introduced mandatory additional information requirements for all online business name update requests. The directive, effective immediately, aims to enhance the accuracy and efficiency of processing applications.

In a public announcement shared on its official X (formerly Twitter) account, the CAC outlined the essential details that must now accompany every update submission. These include:

  • Date of Birth
  • Registered Office Email
  • Proprietor’s Email
  • Phone Number for the registered address or proprietor (if different)
  • Valid Means of Identification

The commission emphasized the importance of providing these details to avoid delays and ensure seamless processing. “Please provide these details to ensure smooth processing. Thank you,” the follow-up statement concluded.
