A criminal court in Benin, the Edo State capital, yesterday remanded seven suspects in prison custody, over their involvement in the various cult clashes in Benin metropolis, which led to the death of no fewer than eight persons in the last four days.

The suspects: Esosa regeorowo, Frank Obaze, Min ster Godwin, Jeremiah Timothy, Jimoh Lasisi, Osasu Idehen and Idehen Marvis, were remanded by Justice Efe Ikponmwonba, who sat at the Criminal Court One.

The suspected cultists were arraigned for conspiracy to commit murder, murder and membership of an unlawful society.

Ruling on an application otion brought by the prosecutor, the court ordered that the suspects be remanded at the Oko Correctional Centre on Airport Road, Benin, pending legal advice from the office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), Edo state.
