Dr. Sam Amadi, former Chairman of the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC), has filed a petition to the Inspector General of Police, calling for urgent action against the Twitter handle @lagospedia.

The petition addresses several hate speeches directed at Nigerians of Igbo descent, urging violence and forced relocation.

In his petition, Amadi highlights that the hate speeches violate the 1999 Constitution, the Criminal Code, and the Cybercrimes Act 2024. He emphasizes that such rhetoric threatens national unity and security, referencing specific inflammatory posts from July 27 and 29, 2024.

Dr. Amadi argues that these statements by @lagospedia are not only unconstitutional but also incite mass violence.

He calls for the Nigerian Police Force to investigate, arrest, and prosecute the individual behind the handle under the Cybercrimes Act. He also points out the inconsistency in law enforcement, noting that similar actions against other ethnic groups have led to arrests and prosecutions.
