A Senior Special Assistant to the President on School Feeding, Dr. Yetunde Adeniji, has once again cautioned parents against writing their children’s names on school bags or cardigans.

She emphasised that inscribing children’s names on the outside of their schoolbags can help people with bad intention address them by name.

Consequently, children may respond positively, believing these criminals are relatives. She identified such criminals to include kidnappers, rapists and murderers.

The advisory, as sighted by Vanguard, states: “Please, refrain from writing your children’s names on the backs of their schoolbags and cardigans.

“Consider placing the names inside their bags.

“This precaution is essential to avoid making it easier for kidnappers, rapists, and murderers to call them by name.

“It will lead children to respond positively under the false belief that these criminals know them or are their relatives,” Yetunde Adeniji said.
