As reactions continue to trail the just concluded Edo governorship elections, Chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and former presidential aspirant, Chief Dele Momodu, has said he was not surprised at the outcome of the elections.

In a WhatsApp message, Momodu insisted that most of the principal state actors, both in the All Progressives Congress (APC) and PDP, are involved in what he termed “gangsterism.”

“I’m flabbergasted that some Nigerians still expect APC to lose this particular election. It is practically impossible, and I’m ready to place a modest bet on it,” Momodu stated.

He expressed disappointment that his “governor and brother”, Godwin Obaseki, may be unaware of a special operation he referred to as “Oga wants it.”

Momodu alleged that “only a few are disinterested” among the principal actors in the state’s politics, adding that “Obaseki is surrounded by some wolves in sheep’s clothing, unfortunately.”

He further claimed there are two camps working together in a “temporary marriage of convenience”, primarily in the APC, while those in PDP are mostly serving their second terms and wary of what he called the “Yahaya Bello treatment.”

According to Momodu, those in PDP are allegiant to their “ringleader, whose voluptuous presidential ambition is not hidden.” He suggested there was a “permutation” that if the “Oga” is unable to run, then the “Mafia Don” would have PDP as a fallback.

“Even within the Mafia group, there are still some lily-livered members who have suppressed their own presidential and vice-presidential ambitions out of mortal fear for their rambunctious leader,” Momodu added.

He concluded his message by stating emphatically, “Oga wants it; Oga must have it, by all means.”

The Edo State governorship election was held on Saturday, with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declaring the candidate of the APC, Senator Monday Okpebholo , as the winner. The announcement has been met with mixed reactions from various stakeholders.
