A federal high court in Abuja has ordered substituted service of a suit seeking the disqualification of Osagie Ize-Iyamu, governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), and his running mate, Audu Ganiyu, from the forthcoming election in Edo state.

Momoh Abdul-Razak and Zibiri Muhizu, both members of the APC, had instituted the suit marked FHC/ABJ/ CS/758/2020, against Ize-Iyamu through their lawyer, Friday Nwosu, on July 10, 2020.

They submitted that Ganiyu gave false information to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to aid his qualification for the governorship election.

They also alleged irregularities in Ganiyu’s name and academic credentials.

The APC, INEC, Ganiyu, and Ize-Iyamu, are the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th defendants, respectively.

Due to difficulties encountered in trying to serve the court processes on the governorship candidate and his running mate, the plaintiffs filed an application seeking an order of substituted service.

Ruling on the application, Taiwo Taiwo, the presiding judge, ordered that Ize-Iyamu and Ganiyu be served with the suit by pasting the court documents and the hearing notice for next sitting at their various residences in Benin, the Edo capital.

The case has been adjourned till August 24 for continuation.
