All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA)

On Thursday, July 18, 2024, the Federal High Court in Abuja issued an order directing the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) to refrain from taking any actions that could undermine the outcome of the pending motion on notice filed by the plaintiffs, Barr. Sylvester Ezeokenwa, the National Chairman of APGA, and the party itself.

The order, delivered by Hon. Justice J.K. Omotosho, comes amidst an ongoing leadership dispute within APGA. The court referenced previous judgments delivered by the Federal High Court, the Court of Appeal, and the Supreme Court in related cases involving the party’s leadership.

Justice Omotosho emphasized that it is a well-established legal principle that when a matter is pending before the court, no party shall take any steps that could render the outcome ineffective. The court ordered both the plaintiffs and the 1st defendant, INEC, to abstain from any actions that might nullify the result of the motion on notice dated and filed on July 12, 2024. The court further clarified that any such actions taken by the parties would be considered null and void.

The matter has been adjourned until September 25, 2024, for further hearing, and the court has directed that hearing notices be issued and served to all parties involved in the case.
