*Enjoins Delegates To Enjoy Atlantic City

The Chairman of the Local Organizing Community (LOC), Ikechukwu Uwanna has welcomed delegates to the 62nd NBA-AGC themed “Bold Transition”, which is taking place at Eko Atlantic City, Lagos stating that this is a platform for delegates to review the state of the country.

In his address, the Chairman expressed that it was his greatest pleasure to welcome delegates on behalf of the chairmen and members of all the branches of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) in Lagos State to welcome all delegates to the AGC.

According to Uwanna, it was commendable that the NBA had sustained the tradition for 62 years and that this year was a platform for meaningful discussions. “It is commendable that for close to 62 years, the NBA has sustained the tradition of gathering in large numbers to interrogate topical legal issues, review the state of our dear nation, network and take the very needed rest from the rigors of legal practice.”

Remarking on the significance of the theme, Uwanna continued thus: “Reflecting on the theme of this year’s conference, I recall that His Lordship, Galinje JCA (as he then was), said in Leo Melos Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd v. Union Homes Savings & Loans Ltd (2010) LPELR-4431(CA) (Pp. 7-8 paras. F) that “any law that does not provide for the transition of actions that are pending, cannot by any stretch of imagination be a good law.” Taking his cue, I am emboldened to say that any Association that does not provide for transition of pending actions cannot be a good Association. It is only by bold transitions that right strides of receding administrations can be sustained or improved upon.”

He stated that Lagos was a tourist city with night life, splendid food, cultural and art displays, and being notable its for hospitality services . Therefore the LOC Chairman admonished members to take advantage of all these and appreciate the beauty Lagos has to offer, whilst enjoying the NBA-AGC.
