In a statement last Friday, by the President of the African Bar Association, Mr. Hannibal Uwaifo, he said “The Governing and Executive Councils, welcome the release of our VP Central Africa, Mr. Felix Nkongho, and all illegally detained activists in Cameroon. “We thank all our officers and members, who stood up throughout the harrowing period. While, the battle is not yet over, the release is a step in the right direction, and we urge the Government to immediately establish a dialogue committee, to resolve all the grievances which led to the protests in Southern Cameroon. “We urge all parties, to refrain from making inflammatory or impossible demands, so as to ensure that these matters are resolved quickly. ‘We urge the Cameroonian Government under President Paul Biya, to free every detained person and embrace dialogue, as we urge the Security agencies not to make fresh arrests and to treat all Cameroonians equally, and to respect their constitutionally guaranteed rights under the Constitution of Cameroon and International Law.” Uwaifo said MBA is available to help resolve the crises, and has set up a Committee to study the recent developments, and ,recommend immediate and lasting Solutions. ]]>
