Mr. Mohammed Lawal Gusau, the proprietor of Ma’ahad Wa Masjid Li Marhoom Mohammed Lawal Gusau has applied to the Attorney General of Kano State for a fiat in order to join in the prosecution of Yahaya Sharif Aminu up to the Supreme Court if need be.

This is contained in a letter addressed to the Kano AG, dated 14th day of September, 2020 by his Lawyer, Abubakar A. Ashat, Esq. which was made available to TheNigeriaLawyer (TNL).

It was noted that he has a “desire to render selfless service towards the advancement and up-lifment of the goals and ideals of Islam in all positive human endeavors.

“Following the blasphemous song prosecution and conviction of YAHAYA SHARIF AMINU, our Client ardently followed the case until Judgement was entered after convicting and sentencing him.”

Meanwhile, it was stated that he was peeved “when he heard with consternation that the convict has appealed and is shamelessly having the backing of some prominent Nigerians” adding that, “in the discharge of his religious duties/obligations felt the need to provide/render support to the office of the Honourable Attorney General morally and OR in all other spheres to ensure that the Judgement is affirmed by all Appeal Courts.”

Besides, it was stated that he “desires that YAHAYA SHARIFF AMINU goes to the gallows in accordance with Islamic injunctions”.

“Consequently, we humbly apply for a FIAT to be allowed to join the office of the Attorney General in prosecuting the appeal up to the Supreme Court if circumstances yet to unfold permit”. He added .
