The bandits who abducted Ojibara of Bayagan in Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara State, Alhaji Kamilu Salami, from his farm on Saturday morning have demanded N150 million from the community for his release.

Vanguard reliably gathered on Sunday morning that the bandits contacted the community in the early hours to communicate the ransom demand.

Oba Ojibara was instructed by the bandits to speak with members of his community so they would be convinced he was in their custody.

Vanguard gathered that the monarch, in his lamentations, urged the community to come to his rescue by negotiating with the bandits for his swift release.

He reportedly said the bandits took him on a motorcycle through dense forests for more than five hours before arriving at their destination, where they maintained communication with the community.

At press time, negotiations had not commenced, as the call was solely to inform the community of the ransom amount and confirm that the monarch was in their custody.

The monarch also informed members of his community that an unspecified number of people had been abducted in a neighboring community during the same period.

Bayagan is a large community in Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara State.

Recall that the monarch was kidnapped around 9:30 a.m. by a gang of bandits who stormed his farm armed with AK-47 rifles.
