The National Working Committee of the All Progressives Congress on Thursday approved new dates for the postponed elective congresses of the party’s Rivers State Chapter.

The new dates were disclosed in a statement issued in Abuja by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka.

Morka said the dates were approved at the meeting of the National Working Committee held on Wednesday at the APC National Secretariat in Abuja.

According to the revised schedule, Rivers APC will now hold its Ward Congress on November 16, 2024.

The Local Government Area Congress will follow a week later, specifically on November 23 while the State Congress will take place on Saturday, November 30.

The congresses are crucial in determining the party’s leadership at various levels, as the APC continues its preparations for future elections.

The outcome of these congresses is expected to set the tone for the party’s organizational structure in the state, ahead of both local and national political engagements.

The statement read, “The All Progressives Congress has approved new dates for the earlier postponed Rivers State Chapter’s elective congresses. Ward Congress holds November 16; LGA Congress is slated for November 23 while State Congress has been fixed for November 30.

“The decision was reached at the meeting of the National Working Committee held on Wednesday, October 23rd, 2024 at the Party’s National Secretariat in Abuja.

“Other schedule of activities related to the congresses will be announced in due course.”
