The council made the demand in a nine-point communiqué it issued at the end of its meeting held at the Governor’s Lodge in Awka. The communiqué partly read, “The present system needs to be restructured to achieve true federalism and guarantee greater unity and political stability in Nigeria.” Expressing worry over the unwholesome activities of the Fulani herdsmen in most parts of the country, the council recommended commercial ranching “as the best method for meat and dairy production.” It called on the Anambra State Government and other South-East state governments to reject the proposed cattle colonies by the Federal Government, noting that it would have adverse security implications. The council congratulated Governor Willie Obiano and his deputy, Dr Nkem Okeke, on their re-election at the November18 polls. It expressed confidence that Anambra State would in “the next four years witness productive governance.”]]>
