Unoma Akpabio, the wife of the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, has strongly denied the sexual harassment allegations made by Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, the Kogi Central representative, accusing her of maligning her husband’s character.

In a recent interview on Arise TV, Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan, a member of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), accused Senate President Akpabio of making inappropriate advances towards her. The allegations, which have sparked a wave of controversy, claim that the Senate President harassed the senator, prompting a strong response from Mrs. Akpabio.

Reacting to the allegations, Mrs. Akpabio condemned the claims as lies fabricated for personal gain, accusing Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan of creating content to tarnish her husband’s reputation.

She described her husband as a disciplined and jovial individual who is often misinterpreted. She further emphasized that their family has always had a cordial relationship with Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan’s family, which predated the senator’s marriage.

On the date of the alleged incident, December 8, 2023, Mrs. Akpabio clarified that she was at her family’s residence, asserting that the allegations were baseless fantasies. She also commended her husband’s integrity and longstanding support for women’s inclusion in government, distancing him from any claims of misconduct.

Mrs. Akpabio warned against spreading false allegations and vowed to pursue legal action against Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan for defamation. The development comes just after Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan’s live interview, in which she alleged sexual harassment and victimization, fueling an ongoing public dispute.
