The National President of the Afenifere Youth Council, Eniola Olajuni, has regained his freedom after spending 12 days in the captivity of kidnappers.

Olajuni confirmed his release in a short video posted on X, where he stated, “I have been released. I was released in Ibilo, Edo State, this evening.” He was seen speaking from a moving vehicle while being driven to safety.

The youth leader was abducted on Monday, February 17, 2025, while traveling to Abuja for a meeting. His captors initially demanded a ransom of N100 million and two tricycles for his release.

Following public outcry, the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, on Wednesday, ordered the deployment of the Intelligence Response Team (IRT) to secure his safe release.

Earlier, a distressing video of Olajuni at gunpoint had gone viral, in which he pleaded for Nigerians to help raise funds for his freedom.

Details surrounding the circumstances of his release remain unclear, but his safe return marks the end of a harrowing ordeal.
