Senior Advocate of Nigeria Ebun-Olu Adegboruwa commended the organizers of the upcoming “Hunger and End Bad Governance Protests” for their patriotism and zeal. He acknowledged the hardships faced by Nigerians due to rising food prices and the government’s economic policies.

Adegboruwa appealed to President Tinubu and his administration to address the economic crisis urgently, calling for a reversal of the oil subsidy removal and currency devaluation policies. He criticized the lavish lifestyles of government functionaries amidst the suffering of the common people.

The Senior Advocate also called upon security and law enforcement agencies to respect the protesters’ right to peaceful assembly and to refrain from using force or making arbitrary arrests. He emphasized that the protesters are citizens who deserve protection, not bullets and crackdowns.

To the protesters, Adegboruwa acknowledged the moral victory of their campaigns and struggles. He revealed that discussions had taken place with law enforcement to ensure a peaceful protest. However, he appealed for the protests to be orderly, peaceful, and limited to a maximum of three days to allow room for dialogue with the government.

Adegboruwa offered to join the protesters in engaging with various government agents to address and redress the issues raised. He called for the setting up of different teams to facilitate these discussions.

The Senior Advocate made these appeals in the interest of peace, progress, and tranquility in Nigeria, emphasizing the need for more engagement between the protesters and the government to resolve the pressing matters at hand.
