Dr. Olufemi Olaleye, a 57-year-old British-Nigerian physician and former medical director of the Optimal Cancer Care Foundation in Lagos, has been remanded in custody in the United Kingdom following his arrest on allegations of voyeurism dating back to 2004–2007.

Olaleye, who also goes by names including Frank, Femi, and Francis Olaleye, was apprehended by Kent Police at London’s Gatwick Airport on November 27, 2025, upon his arrival from Nigeria. He appeared before Medway Magistrates’ Court on November 29, where he pleaded not guilty to three counts of voyeurism under the UK’s Sexual Offences Act 2003. The charges allege that between May 1, 2004, and July 31, 2007, while working as an obstetrician and gynecologist at Darent Valley Hospital in Dartford, Kent, Olaleye secretly recorded private acts involving multiple women for sexual gratification without their consent.

The court cited concerns over Olaleye’s potential to reoffend, flight risk, and history of absconding as reasons for remand. His next hearing is scheduled for January 21, 2026, at Maidstone Magistrates’ Court, with a review of custody conditions on January 2.

Investigations revealed inconsistencies in Olaleye’s personal records. UK Companies House lists him as “Frank Olufemi Olaleye,” born in August 1968 (age 57), while his dissolved charity, Wish for Africa (2007–2010), registered him simply as “Frank Olaleye,” claiming “Olufemi” as a prior surname. On social media platforms like LinkedIn and Instagram, he uses “Dr. Femi Olaleye,” and book covers credit “Olufemi Olaleye.” A recent Instagram post from August 2025 celebrated his “58th birthday,” conflicting with official records.

Kent Police confirmed the suspect’s identity as “Francis Olaleye, 57, from Plumstead Common Road, Plumstead, London,” linking him definitively to the Nigerian doctor through professional and charitable ties.

The voyeurism charges involve at least three women, one a married victim whose explicit recording was discovered by her husband, contributing to their divorce. Police described the acts as non-consensual recordings of intimate moments, such as nudity or sexual activity, in private settings.

This UK case follows Olaleye’s tumultuous legal battle in Nigeria. In November 2022, he was arraigned in Lagos on charges of defiling and sexually assaulting his wife’s 15- to 16-year-old niece between March 2020 and November 2021. His estranged wife, Aderemi Olaleye, testified about grooming via pornography, drugging incidents, and physical evidence from the Mirabel Centre showing injuries to the victim.

On October 24, 2023, Justice Rahman Oshodi convicted him on both counts, sentencing him to life imprisonment and labeling him a “dangerous offender.” However, the Lagos Court of Appeal, in a November 29, 2024, ruling led by Justice Olukayode Bada, overturned the conviction, acquitting Olaleye due to “tainted” prosecution evidence, inconsistencies, and judicial overreach. The state appealed to Nigeria’s Supreme Court on December 27, 2024.

Post-acquittal, Olaleye fled Nigeria, traveling to the US, UAE, and Italy. He authored books and gave interviews portraying himself as a “survivor” of injustice, which he shared on social media before his UK arrest.

The UK arrest reignited outrage in Nigeria. Nollywood actress Kate Henshaw criticized Justice Bada on X (formerly Twitter), urging him to “hide his face in shame” for freeing a man now facing similar charges abroad. A lawyer countered, calling her remarks “ignorant” and clarifying that the three-judge appellate panel’s decision on distinct charges and victims doesn’t influence the separate UK case. Henshaw responded sharply, defending her position and escalating the exchange.
