The Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI) and Bangladesh are looking to strengthen bilateral ties and boost economic growth in Nigeria through the establishment of an Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Park in the Federal Capital Territory.

This was disclosed when the Bangladeshi High Commissioner to Nigeria, H.E. Mr Masudur Rahman, paid a courtesy visit to the ACCI President, Chief Emeka Obegolu, to explore collaboration across sectors like agriculture, garments, manufacturing and electronics assembly.

Describing the vast opportunities in Africa’s largest economy, the High Commissioner noted that properly harnessing the areas of mutually beneficial partnership can spur sustainable development, job creation, poverty alleviation and expanded trade.

“Nigeria’s huge market offers immense potential for Bangladeshi entrepreneurs across diverse fields,” H.E. Rahman affirmed.

The envoy stressed the need to formalize the cooperation through a Memorandum of Understanding between ACCI and Bangladesh’s Dhaka Chamber of Commerce.

Welcoming the Bangladeshi diplomatic delegation, Chief Obegolu commended the High Commissioner’s commitment to strengthening ties between both countries.

He expressed optimism that the skill transfer and influx of new companies from Bangladesh can support Nigeria’s economic diversification agenda and position it as a production hub.

The ACCI Director-General, Mr Agabaidu Jideani emphasized the Chamber’s focus on catalyzing job creation and would welcome the opportunity for Bangladeshi firms to set up shop in Abuja.

The courtesy visit signals an intent by both countries to leverage bilateral partnerships in driving industrialization, trade and sustainable growth outcomes.
