The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has confirmed that four of its officers who were abducted by bandits on Monday have been rescued.

Bisi Kazeem, the corps public education officer, disclosed this in an interview with NAN on Tuesday in Abuja.

Twenty-six FRSC officers who were on their way to the FRSC Academy in Enugu, on Monday, were attacked in Nasarawa.

While two officers were killed, 10 were declared missing.

Kazeem, however, said the officers who sustained injuries were currently receiving treatment in Abuja.

According to him, out of the 10 people declared missing on Monday, four have been rescued.

“Two died on Monday. Presently, seven officers are receiving treatment in Abuja,” he said.

Kazeem said that the deceased will be buried according to their religious beliefs, adding that necessary arrangements had been made concerning their funerals.

Boboye Oyeyemi, FRSC corps marshal, in his remarks, expressed shock over the death of the two officers, describing the incident as an unfortunate occurrence.

He, however, condoled with the families of the deceased officers and the entire management and staff of FRSC.

He urged the staff not to be deterred by the loss, but be propelled to put in extra efforts in selfless service to the nation as a mark of honour to the deceased.

He appreciated the effort of the Department of State Service (DSS), Nigerian army and the police for their prompt efforts to ensure the rescue of the four officers.

He gave the assurance that the corps would continue to work closely with security agencies to ensure that the criminal elements were brought to book and justice was served when the six missing personnel were found.
