The Nigeria Police Force has disowned a purported press release claiming that the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, directed the commencement of training for 50,000 newly recruited police constables.

The Force described the document circulating on WhatsApp and other social media platforms as false and unauthorised, warning recruitment applicants and members of the public against relying on it.
The purported document was titled, “IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu Directs Commencement Of Training For 50,000 Newly Recruited Police Constables,” and carried the name and designation of the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Ani Iniedu.
It claimed that the Inspector-General had directed the Deputy Inspector-General of Police in charge of the Department of Training and Development to begin preparations for the training of the recruits.
The document further claimed that the proposed training would focus on discipline, professionalism, integrity, respect for human rights and effective policing.
Disowning the statement, the Force said: “The Nigeria Police Force disclaims the purported press release titled, ‘IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu Directs Commencement Of Training For 50,000 Newly Recruited Police Constables,’ currently in circulation and bearing the name and designation of the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Ani Iniedu.
“The document is false and was neither issued nor authorised by the Nigeria Police Force.”
The police advised recruitment applicants and members of the public to disregard the purported statement and rely exclusively on verified information issued through the Force’s official communication channels.
The latest disclaimer is separate from an earlier fake notice which directed prospective police constable recruits to report for training on September 18, 2026.
The Force had also disowned that notice and cautioned applicants against acting on unverified recruitment and training information circulated on social media.
