The Delta State Police Command has said it will charge 40-year-old content creator, Ifeanyi Ogbonna, popularly known as Odogwu of Asaba, to court over the alleged rape of 20-year-old Favour Agbro, as his wife publicly defended him, insisting that he had an affair with the deceased but did not rape or kill her.

Ogbonna was arrested following a petition by Favour’s family, with police saying investigations were ongoing and that the suspect would be charged to court. He has not been convicted of any offence, and the allegations against him remain subject to determination through the legal process.
The police alleged that Ogbonna invited Favour to Asaba on June 1, 2026, after offering to teach her how to monetise her TikTok and Facebook accounts through content creation.
According to the Command, Ogbonna subsequently took her to a hotel where he allegedly raped and physically assaulted her.
Police said Favour later returned home distressed and narrated the alleged incident to her parents before recording a video concerning what she said had happened.
She subsequently ingested a toxic substance and later died while receiving treatment.
Amid the police investigation and planned prosecution, Ogbonna’s wife has rejected the rape allegation against her husband, although she acknowledged that he had an affair with Favour.
Speaking in a video uploaded on her husband’s social media page on Wednesday, the woman, whose name was not disclosed, said she would continue to stand by him.
“Odogwu Asaba did not kill anybody. I know my husband. Odogwu Asaba did not rape Favour. Odogwu Asaba only had an affair with the girl,” she said.
She further insisted that her husband was incapable of rape.
“He cannot rape, he has never. Even when he did not have fame, he did not rape anybody, is it now?” she asked.
According to her, she had deliberately avoided making an immediate public statement because she wanted to understand the circumstances surrounding the case.
“I am trying to follow the matter the right way; I have not been silent. I want to let you people know that no matter what happened, he is my husband and I stand with him 100%. I’m not going to turn my back on him,” she said.
She also cautioned against treating allegations and discussions on social media as a substitute for judicial proceedings.
“How I feel, what I feel, how I see it is my personal decision. Everything is not actually the way they presented it. Before I could come out to talk, I have learnt a lot about this matter. Social media is not a courtroom. You people should bear that in mind,” she said.
While acknowledging the gravity of Favour’s death, Ogbonna’s wife maintained that her husband was not responsible for killing her.
“Yes, someone has died and that is why we are taking it easy. But Odogwu Asaba did not kill anybody,” she said.
She added that Ogbonna would eventually have an opportunity to give his own account of events.
The woman disclosed that she and Ogbonna have been married for eight years and have four children together.
Police, however, have maintained that their investigation followed a formal petition from the deceased’s family and have indicated that Ogbonna will face court proceedings over the allegations.
His wife’s claim that the relationship was consensual represents her account of events and does not resolve the allegation before investigators.
Similarly, the police allegations have not been judicially established.
Ogbonna is presumed innocent unless and until found guilty by a court of competent jurisdiction.
