The Police Service Commission has approved the deployment of eight Commissioners of Police to various state commands and appointed Assistant Inspector-General of Police Auwal Mohammed as the new Commandant of the Nigeria Police Academy, Wudil, Kano.

The commission said the postings, approved at its meeting on Wednesday, followed the promotion of former commissioners and were intended to address operational needs across the affected commands.

According to a statement by the commission’s spokesman, Torty Kalu, under the new postings, CP Afolabi Wilfred Olutokunbo was deployed to Abia State, CP Ayodeji Faniyan to Plateau, CP Saka Ajao to Bayelsa, CP Ajo Ordue to Cross River, CP Nnanna Ama to Anambra, CP Patrick Daaor to Edo, CP Tijani Murtala to Jigawa, and CP Samuel Etaifo to Delta State.

“The postings follow promotions of former CPs and are aimed at sustaining operational exigencies, ” the statement partly read.

The PSC also approved the appointment of AIG Mohammed as Commandant of the Nigeria Police Academy.

According to the commission, Mohammed has over 33 years of policing experience spanning operations, investigations, intelligence-led policing and training.

He previously served as Commandant of the Police College, Maiduguri, Commissioner of Police in Bauchi State, and Assistant Inspector-General of Police in Zones 3 and 6.

He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and a Master’s degree in Public Policy from Bayero University and is a member of the International Association of Chiefs of Police.

Speaking during the meeting, the commissioner who presided over the session, retired Justice Paul Adamu Galumje, charged the newly deployed officers to remain professional in the discharge of their duties.

He urged them to “stand firm, uphold the rule of law, and remain neutral and diligent” in carrying out their responsibilities.
