Dangote Petroleum Refinery has announced a reduction in the ex-depot prices of Premium Motor Spirit, also known as petrol, and Automotive Gas Oil, commonly called diesel, as part of efforts to make refined petroleum products more affordable for Nigerians.

Under the new pricing structure, the refinery reduced the price of petrol from ₦1,215 per litre to ₦1,165 per litre, representing a ₦50 reduction. It also reduced the price of diesel from ₦1,650 per litre to ₦1,570 per litre, amounting to an ₦80 reduction.

In a statement issued on Wednesday by the Dangote Group, the refinery said the price review was aimed at enhancing energy affordability, improving access to refined petroleum products and supporting economic activities across the country.

“Dangote Petroleum Refinery has announced a reduction in the ex-depot prices of Premium Motor Spirit and Automotive Gas Oil, reaffirming its commitment to providing affordable, high-quality petroleum products to the Nigerian market,” the statement read.

The company said the new pricing reflects its ongoing efforts to improve access to refined products while delivering value to consumers, businesses and other stakeholders.

According to the statement, the refinery remains committed to ensuring stable supply of petroleum products across the country while leveraging improved operational efficiencies to support the market.

It added that the company would continue to pass on the benefits of operational efficiency to consumers whenever market conditions permit.

The refinery said it continues to play a pivotal role in strengthening Nigeria’s energy security, reducing the country’s reliance on imported petroleum products and supporting national economic development through the supply of world-class refined products.

A credible source also confirmed that Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals had made a fresh adjustment to its ex-gantry price of petrol, lowering it from ₦1,215 to ₦1,165 per litre, while diesel was reduced from ₦1,650 to ₦1,570 per litre.

The latest review comes amid continued attention on domestic refining, fuel pricing and efforts to stabilise petroleum product supply in Nigeria.
