The Independent National Electoral Commission in Lagos State has announced that it will commence the public display of Form EC9 containing the personal particulars, credentials and sworn affidavits of candidates nominated for the 2027 presidential, senatorial and House of Representatives elections.

The exercise will begin on Saturday, August 1, 2026, at the INEC Lagos State office in Sabo-Yaba and the commission’s local government offices within the affected federal and senatorial constituencies.
The commission’s Head of Voter Education and Publicity, Esther Emeh, disclosed this in a statement, explaining that the public display is being conducted in accordance with Section 29 of the Electoral Act 2022.
According to INEC, Form EC9 contains the credentials, personal information and affidavits submitted by candidates sponsored by registered political parties for elective offices.
The commission consequently invited political parties, nominated candidates, election stakeholders and members of the public to visit the designated offices and examine the documents during the display period.
“We urge registered political parties, nominated candidates, stakeholders and members of the public to inspect the documents during the display period,” the commission said.
INEC explained that the exercise is intended to promote public scrutiny of the information supplied by candidates and allow interested persons to verify claims relating to their identity, educational qualifications and other particulars submitted to the electoral body.
The commission added that anyone who believes that a candidate supplied false information or presented forged credentials may approach a court for legal redress as provided under the Electoral Act.
Under the law, a person who reasonably believes that information contained in a candidate’s affidavit is false may institute an action against the candidate, while the court may issue appropriate orders where the allegation is established.
INEC reaffirmed its commitment to transparency, accountability and the conduct of free, fair and credible elections, urging members of the public to take advantage of the display period to scrutinise the particulars of candidates seeking to represent them in 2027.
