Melody’s Farm Ltd has petitioned the Inspector General of Police over an incident of July 26, 2026, in which it alleges that four persons jumped into its industrial poultry farm armed with guns, machetes and dangerous chemicals, sprayed the chemicals inside the farm, killed over three thousand birds, and caused the company losses exceeding N250,000,000.

The petition, dated July 29, 2026, and received at the Office of the Inspector General of Police on the same day, was written by Dynamic Option Chambers of Suite F37, Melita Plaza, Area 11, Garki, Abuja, and signed by the firm’s Managing Partner.
The petition is titled “A Case of Acts of Terrorism, Threats to Life, Conducts Likely to Cause Breach of Public Peace, Wilful Destruction of Properties, Criminal Trespass and Cruelty Against Cyril Ishmael, Chukwuma Ishmael and Their Accomplices.”
It states that on July 26, 2026, the CCTV cameras at the company’s farm, located at Umungwa/Umuobasi Village, Agbaragwu Otuka Community, Isialangwa South, Abia State, “captured footages of the younger brother of Cyril Ishmael, called Chukwuma Ishmael, alongside three other persons, at the behest of Cyril Ishmael, jumping into our client’s farm, armed with guns, machetes, and dangerous chemicals, which was sprayed in our client’s industrial poultry farm, thereby killing over three thousand birds, and causing our client over N250,000,000.00 in losses.”
The petition raises a second dimension of harm beyond the destruction of livestock.
“Besides the killing of the birds, the dangerous chemicals sprayed in the farm pose extreme health hazard to the operators of the farm, as their lives are put at heavy risk,” it states.
The petition alleges that the July 26 incident forms part of a pattern rather than an isolated event.
“It is our client’s instruction that the incident of the 26th July 2026 was not the first time the said terrorists are wilfully spraying dangerous chemicals into our client’s farm, with the sole aim of causing mass death of not just the birds but also the operators of the farm,” the petition states.
The petition asks the police to extend the investigation to the neighbouring property.
“Our client believes that a search in the adjoining property to our client’s farm, belonging to Cyril Ishmael, will reveal where the dangerous chemicals are stored, including the arms used by the said Cyril Ishmael, and his younger brothers and thugs,” it states.
The petition states that the company “who is a law-abiding citizen, has decided to report this incident to your esteemed office for urgent investigation and possible prosecution of the culprits, by any specialised section of the Nigeria Police Force.”
“We look forward to an expeditious attention to our petition,” it concludes.
The petition arises against the backdrop of a longstanding dispute between Melody’s Farm Ltd and Cyril Ishmael, a neighbour who shares a boundary with the farm.
In June 2026, the High Court of Abia State, Umuahia Judicial Division, granted an order in Suit No. HU/57/2026 staying further proceedings in two criminal charges pending against Dr Elelenta Nwambuisi Elele, a retired United States military veteran who owns and operates the farm through the incorporated company. Justice C. Chido Nwakanma made the order on June 11, 2026.
That judicial review application alleged that Cyril Ishmael had deployed the Isialangwa North and South Local Government Health Authorities as instruments of a personal vendetta, procuring the issuance of abatement notices and negative reports against Dr Elele personally rather than against the incorporated company that owns the farm, and that Ishmael had “sworn never to allow the poultry to see the light of day.”
The farm holds an Environmental Impact Assessment certificate, No. 1220229836560, issued by the Abia State Ministry of Environment, certifying that it poses no environmental, health or nuisance hazard.
In that earlier application, the court also granted leave for substituted service on Cyril Ishmael through his younger brother, Kingsley A. Ishmael, Esq., a staff of the Ministry of Justice, Abia State, as well as by email and WhatsApp.

Neither Cyril Ishmael nor Chukwuma Ishmael has publicly responded to the allegations as at the time of this report. The Nigeria Police Force has not indicated what action, if any, it will take on the petition.
