The Nigerian Law Society has felicitated Nigerians on the occasion of Eid al-Kabir, urging citizens to embrace sacrifice, compassion, obedience to the law and commitment to national progress.

In a goodwill message signed by its National President, Chief Mela Audu Nunghe, SAN, the society said the celebration of Prophet Ibrahim’s sacrifice serves as a reminder that true sacrifice attracts divine grace.

Nunghe noted that lawyers demonstrate sacrifice in their daily work by giving their time, comfort and, in some cases, personal safety in the pursuit of justice.

According to him, members of the legal profession must continue to show strength and resilience in confronting injustice, corruption and all forms of abuse.

“The Nigerian Law Society wishes all Nigerians a blessed Eid al-Kabir,” the statement read.

“This celebration of Prophet Ibrahim’s sacrifice reminds us that true sacrifice brings divine grace. Lawyers embody this daily, sacrificing time, comfort, and safety to uphold justice with the ram’s strength and resilience against injustice and corruption.”

The society reaffirmed its commitment to the rule of law, integrity and justice, stressing that justice must be treated as a right available to all citizens.

“We stand for the rule of law, integrity, and justice as a right for all,” Nunghe said.

He urged Nigerians, as they celebrate and share with family, neighbours and the less privileged, to also reflect on the values of giving, national sacrifice, compassion for the vulnerable and respect for the law.

Nunghe also called on citizens to pray for peace, security and progress in the country.

“Eid Mubarak. May your sacrifices be accepted and your strength renewed,” he added.
