The African Democratic Congress in Kebbi State has affirmed former Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, as its governorship candidate for the 2027 general elections.

The development was announced in a statement issued by Malami’s Special Assistant on Media, Mohammed Doka, on Sunday.

According to the statement, the party also affirmed retired senior military and security officers for the three senatorial districts in the state.

For the Kebbi Central Senatorial District, the ADC affirmed Aminu Bande as the candidate, while Ibrahim Mera was endorsed for the Kebbi North Senatorial District.

Similarly, Garba Limi was affirmed as the party’s candidate for Kebbi South Senatorial District.

The statement expressed appreciation to leaders, stakeholders, and supporters of the ADC across the state for their support and confidence ahead of the 2027 elections.

“I sincerely appreciate the confidence and support shown by leaders, stakeholders, and supporters of the African Democratic Congress in Kebbi State ahead of the 2027 general elections,” the statement read.

It added that the party had continued consultations and engagements aimed at building a better future for the people of the state.

The statement further noted that the party remained committed to purposeful leadership, good governance, justice, security, and sustainable development in Kebbi State and across Nigeria.

“We remain committed to purposeful leadership, good governance, justice, security, and sustainable development for Kebbi State and Nigeria as a whole,” Doka stated.

The ADC also called on its members and supporters to remain united and determined in pursuit of what it described as a prosperous future for generations to come.

A former member of the House of Representatives, Zakari Mohammed, won the ADC governorship ticket in Kwara State.

Mohammed, who was the sole aspirant, was unanimously chosen as ‘consensus candidate’ by members and leaders of the party, having polled 18,860 votes in a direct primary held over the weekend.

Secretary of the Kwara State ADC governorship primary election committee, Shimaka Sekegh, who announced the election results on behalf of the chairman, Orker Emmanuel Yisa, also noted that Risikat Abdulahi, Iyiola Oyedepo and Mallam Taoheed Usman won Senate nominations for Kwara Central, Kwara South and Kwara North, respectively.

Other candidates of the party included Abdulkadir Olanrewaju Oba-Aluko for Ilorin West/Asa Reps seat, Tope Olayonu for Oyun/Offa/Ifelodun federal constituency and Saad Oladimeji Isa, Ilorin South/Ilorin East federal constituency.

The collation of results and announcement of the names of the party’s candidates at the state ADC secretariat was monitored by a team from the Independent National Electoral Commission, led by Mr Okpanachi Ojodale.
