Air Peace has announced a temporary disruption to its Lagos to London Gatwick flight after a routine technical check detected a minor fault on the aircraft.

The airline said the issue was discovered on Saturday after passengers had already boarded the aircraft for the international flight.

According to Air Peace, the aircraft was immediately withdrawn from service in line with standard safety procedures, while all passengers were safely disembarked.

“Following the completion of passenger boarding, a routine post-boarding technical check identified a minor aircraft fault that required immediate attention,” the airline said.

The airline explained that the decision was taken in line with its commitment to safety and global aviation standards.

It admitted that the development caused inconvenience to passengers, but stressed that safety must always come before flight schedules.

“At Air Peace, the safety and wellbeing of our passengers and crew will always take precedence over operational schedules,” the statement added.

The airline said affected passengers were informed of the development and provided with hotel accommodation and other support arrangements pending the replacement flight.

It also disclosed that a replacement aircraft would be dispatched from London, with passengers expected to depart this morning.

The latest disruption comes amid growing concerns over airline operations and passenger experience on both international and domestic routes.

Air Peace recently faced public criticism over disruptions on its Gatwick to Lagos operations after some passengers, including Nollywood actress Funke Akindele, complained about delays and alleged poor handling during a flight incident.

The airline, however, explained that the earlier disruption was caused by a bird strike. It denied abandoning passengers, insisting that affected travellers were given necessary support and assistance.

Air Peace has also been dealing with wider operational pressure linked to aviation fuel supply challenges and rising costs, which domestic airlines say continue to affect scheduling and flight operations across the sector.

Despite the setbacks, the airline maintained that it remains committed to international safety standards, passenger welfare and reliable flight operations amid ongoing challenges in the aviation industry.
