Former Chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association, Lagos Branch, Lateef Omoyemi Akangbe, SAN, FCIArb (UK), has expressed deep concern over the reported disappearance of Miss Eunice Ameh, a young legal practitioner and serving member of the National Youth Service Corps.

Miss Ameh was reportedly last seen on Tuesday, May 6, 2026, at about 5:35 p.m. around Lake Chad Crescent, Maitama, Abuja, while returning to Life Camp after work.

In a press statement, Akangbe described the development as distressing and troubling, saying it should not be treated as a private concern for her family alone but as a matter that should worry every responsible member of society.

According to him, the unexplained disappearance of a young citizen who was lawfully pursuing her career raises serious questions about public safety, collective vigilance and the value society places on human life and dignity.

“This troubling development is not merely a personal tragedy for her family, friends, and colleagues at the Bar; it is one that should concern every conscientious member of society,” he said.

Akangbe appealed to members of the public with any useful information on her whereabouts to immediately contact her family, the nearest police station or any relevant security agency.

He stressed that no information should be considered too small, noting that experience has shown that vital leads in such cases often come from details that may initially appear insignificant.

“At moments like this, society is measured not only by the effectiveness of its institutions but also by the compassion and responsiveness of its people,” he stated.

The senior lawyer also urged the Nigeria Police Force and other relevant security agencies to intensify and sustain all lawful efforts aimed at securing the safe return of the missing lawyer.

He said cases of disappearance require urgency, coordination, diligence and unwavering commitment from security agencies because every moment counts.

Akangbe expressed hope and prayed that Miss Ameh would be found safe and reunited with her loved ones without further delay.
